Is “Ask on Google+” a Quora-killer?

In this week’s Watch Me Wednesday, I discuss Google’s newest feature, Ask on Google+, and its implications as a new question-answer forum. Ask on Google+ provides the opportunity for Google+ users to have their searches answered by friends from their own Google+ circles.

The format is not dissimilar from the unsuccessful Facebook Questions that debuted and quickly failed in 2010. Does “Ask” have helpful aspects that Facebook Questions lacks? Perhaps Ask on Google+ will take off and become a serious competitor for Quora, a Q&A forum that is widely used and works well.

Have you seen your friends on this? Do you like it? Let us know your thoughts on the potential success of Ask on Google+ and its edge in the competitive market!

I don’t think so. It will just be another alternative. Yahoo answers is nothing fancy and it has been around for years. I think as long as people can get their questions answered, they’re happy.

Will it be successful?  Yes.  Will it destroy Quora? Probably not.

Google+ Ask is going to help searchers to quickly and more easily find answers to their online questions.  I don’t see Google developing this into a full-blown sub-platform of Google+, but more of a Google Search extension feature.

Quora shouldn’t need to worry too much in my opinion because they are providing a Q & A experience that I don’t think Google+ will be interested in developing.

    Likeable, what is your stance?
