I Guess Lebron James Was Busy

A few weeks back Gatorade announced that it will be teaming up with Tiger Woods for a new line of sports drinks. This marks the first licensing agreement between Gatorade and a sports figure (Woods will receive payment from drink sales). It also marks the first licensing agreement and first U.S. deal with a beverage company for Tiger Woods. The details about the deal are not specified however, Golfweek magazine reported that it would be about $100million for 5 years. According to the Associated Press, Gatorade Tiger will be a "subline" of Gatorade Thirst Quencher, meaning it will have the same basic recipe but will come in different flavors: cherry blend, citrus blend and grape.

I understand that Tiger Woods is a huge sports figure nationally and internationally but when I think of Gatorade, I think of sports that are strenuous and extreme. I do not think of golf. I think of hard workouts, where you are drenched in sweat. I do not think of standing on the fairway and driving a golf ball 200 yards, then driving to that green in a golf cart to make a putt. Tiger Woods is very recognizable and Gatorade seems to be very happy with their choice of sports figure. Personally, I don’t think he is the right person to be marketing a sports drink. He has endorsed way too many products as is.
