By Dylan O'Shea Every month more than 1 billion unique users visit YouTube and collectively watch over 6 Billion hours of video. With over 100 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute, how can individuals and brands possibly find a way to make sure their videos are being seen?
Placing ads that drive people to your video will definitely help, but budgetary constraints will keep this from working on its own. You've got to do other things in order to encourage virality. Check out these three tips to help boost your YouTube views and hopefully increase your subscribers as well.
- Fill out metadata. Metadata is the critical information that accompanies any video you upload to YouTube. Writing good headlines and strategically tagging your videos can make all the difference in the world when it comes to driving viewership. Remember, YouTube is a type of search engine.
- Engage with your audience. Not only is YouTube a search engine, it is also a social network. If you want to build a community of viewers around the content you are creating, you must treat it like any other social network. Engage with your viewers on a regular basis. Over time you will see an increase in shares, views, and responses. The more engagement you receive, the more likely your video is to be featured on promotional pages.
- Create an End Card. An end card is an interactive screen that comes at the end of your video’s and it is a great way to direct viewers to other content you have created. Chances are if people like the video they just watched, they will be interested in seeing more.
