Serial Numbers: What Marketers Should Know About the Popular Podcast

Confession: Until last month, I had never listened to a podcast.

I'd been given countless recommendations from friends and family, but remained unconvinced -- until I started hearing the conversation around Serial, including several quality, ringing endorsements.

So I finally caved. And recent articles have shown that I wasn't the only one. After the popularity of podcasts had plateaued in recent years, Serial came along and turned things around. What does this mean for marketers? It could mean that more Americans will be open to listening to other types of podcasts , thereby opening up the channel to a wider audience. Time will tell. In the meantime, here are a few current stats about podcasts.
