On May 20th WOMMA held its annual conference, WOMM-U, in Chicago. I was lucky enough to attend (and speak!) and see a variety of sessions focusing on word-of-mouth marketing. I learned a lot, but often found myself thinking, “DUH!” in response to session take-aways. But while the some of the lessons seemed so obvious, there was still always something that made me stop, think, and re-evaluate what I was doing on social media. Last week I attended the Word of Mouth Marketing Association’s annual Summit in Las Vegas. The three day event featured social media marketing and word of mouth thought leaders as well as brand pioneers in the digital space. The 3-day event featured prominent figures in the digital and word of mouth space as well as a breadth of topics ranging from content strategies to offline programs and measurement. A major theme throughout the conference was advocacy. Advocacy is a term that gets tossed around a lot and is often misused in the process. 5 Takeaways from #Womma's School of WOM: Day 1

Every year WOMMA, the Word of Mouth Marketing Association, holds a conference called the School of WOM. The primary goal of the conference is to share ideas on the art and science of making brands talkable, searchable, and recommendable. Some of the best minds in word of mouth and social media marketing hold sessions ranging from workshops to case studies of successful campaigns. Some of the sessions I attended included a keynote address by Brian Solis, a workshop introducing word of mouth marketing by Ted Wright, and a brand session led by 5iveCanons and Chick-fil-A.
